Sal Klita 2026: How Much You'll Actually Receive (Real Numbers)
A single oleh receives ₪21,694 total in 2026, while couples get ₪41,359, plus child supplements of ₪8,521–₪12,831.
If you're making aliyah in 2026, the sal klita (absorption basket) is the cash grant you'll hear about from day one. It's not a loan, it's not means-tested, and it doesn't disappear if you get a job. Sal Klita is a financial grant provided by Misrad Haklita (Ministry of Aliyah and Integration), intended to help you during your initial period of adjustment in israel. Here's exactly how much you'll receive, when it arrives, and what you need to do to keep it coming.
How Much Money Will You Actually Get?
Based on 2026 Ministry of Aliyah and Integration figures, a single Oleh receives ₪21,694 and a couple receives ₪41,359, plus a per-child supplement of ₪8,521 to ₪12,831 depending on age. The child supplements vary because infants require different support than teenagers: younger children (0–4) receive a different amount than school-age kids (4–18) or young adults still in the household (18–21).
As of 2026, Sal Klita is not income-tested, so starting a job, freelancing, or being employed through an Employer of Record does not reduce or cancel your absorption basket payments. The grant is calculated purely on family status and age, not on how much you earn. That means you can work from the moment you land and still receive every shekel you're entitled to.
Payment Schedule: Airport to Bank Account
You receive an initial cash payment at Ben Gurion Airport, followed by an additional wire transfer after you give Misrad Haklita your bank details. You will receive a total of six monthly installments of Sal Klita, all of which will be transferred directly into your Israeli bank account. Paid out over the first six months after Aliyah, between the 1st and 15th of each month.
The airport payment now comes on a prepaid debit card in many cases, but the amount counts as part of your total sal klita, not a bonus. The Misrad Haklita has recently doubled the amount of money received at the Airport. Please note that the extra payment is instead of the normal second payment, so instead of receiving 6 monthly payments, you will only receive 5. The structure changed, but the total didn't.
What You Need to Do to Receive It
Three things unlock your sal klita:
- Land with oleh status: Your aliyah visa must be approved by the Jewish Agency. Tourists, students on temporary visas, and former residents returning on different statuses don't qualify.
- Open an Israeli bank account immediately: Once you have received your Teudat Zehut, you will be able to open a bank account. Married Olim are required to open a joint account in order to receive Sal Klita payments as a family. Make a small deposit when you open the bank account as Misrad Haklita cannot transfer Sal Klita payments to an inactive account.
- Give your bank details to Misrad Haklita: This happens at your first appointment with your personal absorption counselor. Don't delay—the monthly payments won't start until the ministry has your account number.
The One Rule That Can Stop Your Payments
If an Oleh leaves Israel during the first six months (regardless of reason), payments are stopped. Payments can resume if you return to Israel within one year of your original Aliyah date. To restart them, you must contact the nearest Ministry of Aliyah and Integration office in person. If you return after that one-year window has closed, the remaining installments are forfeited.
If you're planning aliyah but know you'll need to travel back for a wedding, a work obligation, or to close out your affairs abroad, factor this into your timeline. The money isn't punitive, but the residency requirement is real.
Beyond Sal Klita: The Other Benefits in the Basket
Sal klita is actually shorthand for a suite of benefits. The cash grant is the headline, but new olim also receive:
- Free Hebrew ulpan: Government-subsidized intensive Hebrew courses, which you must start within 18 months of arrival.
- Health insurance from day one: For the first six months of Aliyah, new Olim are exempt from the health tax (mas briut) ordinarily deducted from wages: meaning your Kupat Cholim membership is effectively provided at no cost during this period.
- Ongoing rental assistance: The Sal Klita itself includes a rental assistance component during the first six months. After that initial period ends, a separate program through the Ministry of Construction and Housing provides ongoing monthly rent subsidies.
- Municipal tax discounts: Up to 90% off arnona (property tax) in your first year, depending on your municipality.
Where to Get Exact Figures for Your Family
Misrad Haklita provides a Sal Klita calculator on their site, this allows you to determine how much money you will be receiving as part of your Sal Klita. Please be in touch with your Shaliach for further details. nefesh B'Nefesh also hosts an English-language version of the calculator on their site at nbn.org.il.
If you're working with the Jewish Agency or NBN, your shaliach (emissary) will walk you through the numbers during your application process. But the 2026 baseline is clear: ₪21,694 for singles, ₪41,359 for couples, plus child supplements. It's real money, paid on a real schedule, for a real purpose—getting you through the hardest part of the move.
